initial thought

this is just an initial thought.

 

how can an architect like me help in these superthreats? or, more generally, how could possibly an artist, usually perceived as a bohem and a person living from moment to moment, be a real helping hand in these issues?

 

i think that this issue is affected by the 2019's slogan - Think Globally, Act Locally. the thing is - people will not be dead on 2019. they will still have to live somewhere, have a place to eat, wash, sleep, make love etc. this is my role to take care of;but is there something more to it?

 

i would say that artists are great in two time spans - the immediate influence on everyday life as an ordinal human being (a worker, a lover, a father); and if successful, the everlasting inspirational strength on every thinking and feeling (wo)man. were it for the music, we could also include animals in this area of influence.

 

however, to bring solutions to the 'middle-term' problems presented here, the artists' powers lie within the capability of seeing things from other perspective; they might be the well of ideas, when others come to a creative block.

 

i am not saying that people other than artists cannot / will not bring new, fresh and exciting ideas; nor that the visionaries can't be helpful in getting the visions  (of other people) done.

 

i just want to point to the fact, that a human being is made not from two, but three parts - the physical (pure physical condition), the intellectual (IQ, we may say) and the heartly (EQ). Superstruct cannot simulate the first; but shouldn't forget the last of the tripartity.

 

so, can architecture save the world? yes, i think it can. by focusing on the psychological comfort of a person's immediate surroundings, it can introduce less things to worry about; bringing more peace and less anxiousness to the human mind, allowing it to focus on the 'real' problems of media hacking, food poisoning, power failing and so forth.

 

we save because we care.
